A breakdown of all the visual effects used in the first season of Boardwalk Empire

For a show about Prohibition Era New Jersey, Boardwalk Empire sure uses a f#$kload of CGI effects— everything from the now standard crowd fill to facial reconstruction.

This show has become one of my all time favorites - ever. If you have 'On Demand' I Highly recommend checking this out.

This HBO series titled Boardwalk Empire fictionalizes the life and times of "Nucky" Johnson, along with other players, at the start of the Prohibition era in Atlantic City.

The series is produced by Martin Scorsese and Mark Wahlberg and stars Steve Buscemi as Nucky Thompson, a fictionalized version of Johnson.

Show creator Terence Winter elected to portray a fictionalized version of Johnson to give the writers creative license with history, and to maintain suspense. The series is based on the book Boardwalk Empire, by New Jersey Judge Nelson Johnson.

But for the most part is extremely historically acurate with the main people, major events, and timelines.

The folks atBRAINSTORM DIGITAL are incredible! You should check them out.
