How to create a VPN Connection on MAC OS X 10.5 Leopard<\/u><\/b><\/b><\/p>\n

This is a step-by-step guide on how to create a VPN Connection on a MAC OS X 10.5 Leopard System.<\/p>\n

I recently had to do this again for some of our remote staff, so I thought I\u2019d post it as a reminder to me and maybe help others who have asked in the past.<\/p>\n

1. Go to \u2018Apple\u2019<\/i><\/b> \u2013> \u2018System Preferences\u2019<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

2. Select \u2018Network<\/i><\/b>\u2018 from system preferences<\/p>\n

3. In \u2018Network<\/i><\/b>\u2018 system preferences, click the \u2018+<\/i><\/b>\u2018 icon on the bottom left cover of window to make a new VPN Conection.<\/p>\n

4. As shown in the image below, a new window appears. Click on the \u2018Interface\u2019<\/i><\/b> menu and see the list of choices and select \u2018VPN\u2019<\/i><\/b>.<\/p>\n

5. Next, Change the \u2018VPN type<\/i><\/b>\u2018 from \u2018L2TP over IPSec\u2019<\/i><\/b> to  \u2018PPTP<\/i><\/b>\u2018. And then In the \u2018Service Name\u2019<\/i><\/b> field, type in \u2018VPN Office\u2019<\/i><\/b> or \u2018Company Name VPN\u2019<\/i><\/b> or make one up. Once you have done, Click on \u2018Create\u2019<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

6. Next, we need to make a configuration. Select the \u2018Confguration\u2019<\/i><\/b> drop menu and select \u2018Add Configuration\u2019<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

7. A window will pop up, asking to name your new configuration. Type you \u2018Company Name VPN\u2019<\/i><\/b> here and then click \u2018create\u2019<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

8. Next, enter in your company\u2019s \u2018Server Address\u2019<\/i> example; \u2018server.domain.com\u2019<\/i><\/b> or \u201872.14.213.x\u2019<\/strong><\/em> and \u2018Username\u2019<\/i><\/b>, for example \u2018administrator\u2019<\/i><\/b> or \u2018LarryHolmes\u2019 or what ever<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

9. Next, Select the \u2018Authentication settings\u2019 button<\/p>\n

10. Enter in Your \u2018password\u2019<\/i><\/b> and click \u2018OK\u2019<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

11. Next, Click on the \u2018Advanced\u2019<\/i><\/b> Button<\/p>\n

12. Make sure that \u2018Send all traffic over VPN Connection\u2019<\/i><\/b> is unticked<\/b>. Then Click \u2018OK\u2019<\/i><\/b><\/u><\/p>\n

14. Once you have done that, click \u2018Apply\u2019.<\/i><\/b> And connect to your New Vpn Connection by clicking on \u2018Connect\u2019.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n
