After searching far and wide I found a solution to not being able to install the lates version of Windows Live applications on Windows 2003(and 2008) Server.<\/p>\n
My desire is pretty much for only Live Writer but all the ‘Live’ apps are now completely bundled. <\/p>\n
You can’t simply download and install the ‘writer installer’ anymore. [this was a solution for Live Writer beta 3]<\/p>\n
After downloading the full Windows Live installer – wlsetup-all.exe<\/a><\/p>\n You must make adjustments to the actual installer that will allow for a \u2018server\u2019 install (A ‘non supported’ OS).<\/p>\n First download and extract \u2018Resource Hacker\u2019<\/a> to a folder (desktop is simplest)<\/p>\n Next run ResHacker.exe and open the setup file \u2013 wlsetup-all.exe<\/p>\n Locate CONFIG<\/strong> 0<\/strong>. and expand<\/p>\n Then go to \u2018View\u2019 on the menu bar and \u2018Find\u2019 enter \u2018Workstation\u2019 and find any references and replace with Server.<\/p>\n Then \u2018Compile\u2019 and Save the installer.<\/p>\n You can then run the install and all should work!!!
