And most of you probably don&#8217;t. There is a <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">major<\/span><\/strong> security flaw that has been recently aggressively exploited. It could allow people with malicious intent access your system(s). Mac, Windows PC and Linux, all are vulnerable because this is NOT a OS flaw, but a router flaw! So please don\u2019t think you are safe just because you by into the belief (very wrong by the way) that \u2018your\u2019 type of Operating System \u2018doesn\u2019t get infected\u2026\u2019.\u00a0 Scans from security companies have shown about 50 MILLION vulnerable access points already.<\/p>\n<p>It is strongly suggest that end users, companies, and ISPs take immediate action to identify and disable any internet-exposed UPnP endpoints in their environments.<br \/>\nUPnP is pervasive &#8211; <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">it is enabled by default<\/span><\/strong> on many home gateways, nearly all network printers, and devices ranging from IP cameras to network storage servers.<\/p>\n<p>Rapid7.com has an <a href=\"http:\/\/upnp-check.rapid7.com\/\"><strong>online tool here<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0 that can check the external interface of your router and let you know if you are vulnerable.<\/p>\n<p>To fix\/resolve this issue all you need to disable UPnP on your wireless router.<br \/>\nSince each router is different, you\u2019ll need to login to your wireless router\u2019s admin panel (use the manual to figure that out), and then find the UPnP setting. This may require someone with more skills (like your teenager) or an IT professional (preferred method) to turn this off for you you.
